Far Cry 2 Exclusive E3 Hands-On
Gamespot recently released a nice hands on review and a video for Farcry 2. You can check out the video and the review below and on page two of this article.
This can't be Far Cry 2, can it? Deep in the African wilderness, we slowly creep though the darkness, the stars our only source of light. Using tall grass and bushes for cover, we silently approach a well-guarded compound, an enemy refilling station. The guards who aren't asleep huddle near a fire, idly chatting while we sneak to high ground. From this vantage point we can spy on the entire area, including each guard's position and the location of several fuel tanks. But something's wrong. It's quiet. Too quiet. Where are the booming explosions, the deadly firefights, and the dune-buggy drive-bys we've seen in all of the past demos of Far Cry 2, all of which led us to believe this would be one of the most explosive shooters of the year?
Don't worry, we're purposely choosing to sneak around this camp Sam Fisher-style to highlight the differences between night and day combat, differences that are like night and, um, day. Sure, we could fire laser-guided rockets into the camp or ghost-ride an explosive-laden jeep into our enemies, but then you wouldn't get to see some of the unique gameplay opportunities available only at night. First, as it usually happens at night, it's dark. Guards will have a more difficult time seeing you; they'll gather around sources of light such as campfires, and many will retire to their bunks for a good night's sleep. On this night, we avoided the patrols, sneaked from shadow to shadow, and placed improvised explosive devices on the station's fuel tanks. We retreated back to our hilltop vista, pressed a red button, and witnessed a breathtaking sight: a gas station exploding in a giant ball of flame that lit up the night sky like the Fourth of July. Now that's the Far Cry 2 we know and love.

Call of Duty: World At War Trailer
The development team over at Activision and Treyarch has released the first teaser and trailer for call of duty world at war and it looks like its going to be amazing, yes that's a flamethrower and a katana that look like they will be playable weapons. You can check out the full length trailer below, be sure to watch the high definition version. You can find all the details for the game below as well.
Call of Duty: World at War will utilise the Call of Duty 4 engine but the developer has also added various enhancments, such as the ability the burn down buildings and foliage. The game takes place primarily in the pacific, with the US forces fighting Imperial Japan. Frank Kearsy, military advisor and Gulf War Veteran, has made sure that the way the Japanse fight is both tenacious and shocking.
You'll also be fighting as the Russians, who are invading Germany. With the Nazi forces on the back foot they will start fighting even more ferociously in an attempt to defend their strongholds such as in Berlin. There is also a new party system that will allow the leader to issue commands to his troops in single player.
Mutliplayer perks are also back, including some of the favorites from Call of Duty 4, but there will also be new ones that better suit the time period. The game also features new weapons for the series, such as the flamethrower which can melt the skin off of your enemies and set ablaze grass and wooden buildings. You are also able to shoot throw materials depending on the strength of the material.
Treyarch is promising that this new insentient element of Call of Duty will be the darkest one yet and are dedicated to making the best game they can. They have had two years of development time, rather than the 11 months they had for Call of Duty 3. And this time they have specific teams working on all the different versions, with the Xbox 360 version acting as the lead.

Project Reality US Army Update Part 1
The Development team behind Battlefield 2 mod Project Reality announced today that their next update will include the US Army as a new fighting force. PR has the largest player base for any BF2 mod to date so be sure to download the client from their homepage by clicking the banner above and give it a try. Heres what the developers had to say about the upcoming patch and the new equipment:
Over the past few months we have been giving out small hints of the US Army coming to Project Reality but we have been keeping the details under wraps.
Today we have the first part of a large update for Project Reality's US Army. That's right its official, the US Army is coming with the Project Reality v0.8 release!
In the past we have been doing a little bit of "mix and match" with the US assets in Project Reality, mixing US Army and USMC scenarios and weapons. For PR v0.8 there will be an official split, with the US Army using their own unique weapons and vehicles.
We are starting this update with the much awaited M4 Carbine, which is the standard issue rifle of the US Army. Newly added developer [R-DEV]Chuc has recently completed all variants. [R-DEV]Chuc has also been really cracking out loads of other excellent skins as well which we know you will all love (look for dev journal entries on this coming soon). The model and import for the M4 was done by [R-DEV]Katarn who also did the M16A4 models and imports. The texture was a joint effort between Millenia, [R-DEV]Vaiski, [R-DEV]Qwerty and [R-DEV]Chuc.
In all these screens you will probably have noticed the new Digital ACU Camo on the solider model, which is the standard combat uniform of the US Army. These skins were done by [R-CON]Spush. They blend quite well into the terrain and surroundings at a distance! [R-CON]Spush has done work on several other soldier skins included that have already been included into PR v0.75. He's currently touching up Militia uniforms and updating US vehicle skins.
Next up is one of the US Army's APCs (Armored Personel Carrier), The M1126 Stryker. The Stryker is an eight-wheeled, all-wheel-drive, all terrain vehicle which is used by light and mobile mechanized infantry units of the US Army. The Stryker is equipped with an RWS which means the 50cal gunner can sit inside the safety of the Stryker's armor while using the 50.cal MG. The Stryker's model and skin was done by retardedmonkey. The Import has been done by [R-DEV]Stinger. The vehicle coding is currently being done by [R-DEV]Jaymz.
With the help of USI we have finally replaced the infamous vBF2 "beach party" open back HMMWV with a much more appropriate battle-ready model. Although its not as well equipped as current day HMMWV's as seen in Iraq, it provides more protection and is more authentic than the stock BF2 hummer. This updated HMMWV will be used by both the USMC and the US Army. The model, import and coding was done by jarleif and textures done by petemonster from the USI mod. We may add an even more realistic, heavily protected HMMWV model in a future update.
We hope you enjoyed the first part of the US Army update, keep an eye on the Project Reality Website & Forums for the next part and also other information on upcoming changes for PR v0.8!

Worthplaying previews Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.
Worthplaing.com has released a hands on preview for the new Tom Clancy combat flight simulator entitled HAWK witch will be debuting this September.By the sounds of their preview this should be a ground breaking game in the sense of scenery and attention to detail. You can find the entire preview below and on page two of this news story. You can also click on the banner above for a link to the entire review. There was also two new videos released from the ubidays conference this week as well, be sure to check it out, the game play looks amazing.
In the past few years, combinations in satellite mapping data and increases in computer processing power have given end users an unprecedented amount of access to images of every corner of the world. Whether it's a basic overhead view from Google Maps or full 3-D renderings with Google Earth and Virtual Earth 3D, anyone with a computer can easily scan the globe. Now imagine that kind of detail and clarity in a flight sim, and you have an idea of why Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is so darn impressive.
Announced last month, H.A.W.X. is the latest title in the ever-expanding Tom Clancy franchise, but it's the first flight sim to fall under the umbrella of his name. Set four years into the future, the game imagines a world where national armies have been heavily supplemented by private military companies — think Blackwater taken to the extreme. As the various PMCs start gaining more and more influence, the stage is set for a showdown.
Though the final game promises to contain a number of famous locations, our brief hands-on focused on the skies over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. To say it looked good is a bit of an understatement. Yes, it's a game. Yes, there are people shooting at you. Yes, there are objectives to complete. But none of that mattered the moment we got the controller in-hand for the first time. Instead it was a simple matter of, "Wow." H.A.W.X. certainly knows how to make a first impression.

Far Cry 2: New screens and video
PCGames have released a couple of new screen shots and a nice video for the upcoming multi platform system crushing megalith hit Farcry 2. Be sure to check out the high definition version of the video below. Heres what PCGames had to say about the new video and screen shots:
Ubisoft didn't just release a new trailer of the DX 10 game Far Cry 2 today, but at the Nvidia Editor's Day there was additional material available. PCGH presents an exclusive video.
The African savannah's vegetation is swaying in the wind until it is shot at or incinerated by the player. This new kind of interactivity is one of the main themes in the development of the Direct X 10 game. In Far Cry 2 fires spread according to the wind direction and don't stop for houses or careless players. But rain or a body of flowing water can keep them at bay.
The passing of day and night adds to the realism, although it has been accelerated to give the player a chance to notice it (a day in Far Cry 2 takes about four real hours). At night or during a thunderstorm it is a lot easier to sneak up on someone, because figures in the game aren't all-knowing but are limited in their actions by the environment
